Medium questions exist for some niches, so many cells are n/a.

Method

Peak Answer classified 3,064 citations from 198 questions in 30 niches (15 tech, 15 non-tech). The questions were 69 general, 45 medium and 84 specific.

ChatGPT rows were collected through DataForSEO's ChatGPT scraper (cited pages only). Google rows come from earlier SERP data.

Each citation is classified by site type. First-party is the report's type "small provider own site", with an authority ceiling of 45. Third-party is publishers and directories. A first-party share is the share of classified citations that are first-party.

  • AI Overview cells are thin: medium rests on n=4, general on n=71, and specific has none and is shown n/a.
  • Medium questions exist for some niches, so many niche cells are n/a.
  • Per-niche cells are small. The niche table shows the citation count behind each cell, and cells under 10 citations are marked *.
  • The study does not say why the shares move.
  • ChatGPT rows were collected through DataForSEO's ChatGPT scraper (cited pages only) and Google rows come from earlier SERP data.
  • First-party follows the report's own classification.
